The kelp forests of California are a vast territory underwater for various species. These forests grown abundantly off the coast of California, though they are most dense around the southern area. The kelp is commonly threatened and wanes due to higher temperatures on the west coast. Though coming back well in recently they are still in danger, in fact 90% of the kelp forests have been completely lost or damaged. Kelp is very hard to rehabilitate as well because young kelp is even more sensitive than adult kelp. So implementing lost kelp forests has a very low success rate, which is why it's so important to sustain the environments we have at hand today. The type of kelp off the coast of California can grow at an amazing rate of around 2 feet per day at it's maximum potential, and so reaches amazing lengths, about 150 feet in a season. This provides an ideal environment for many ocean species to hide, feed, and live in.
